Jon came by today to record some final bass parts. Here’s an obligatory ‘studio’ photo. Note Jon’s sexy new bass (slightly wonkily distorted by the app I was using). I think he’s extremely smitten.

Greetings everyone! The new recordings are now a little bit closer to being finished. Please contain your excitement! On Sunday Johnny came round to the studio (or the spare room if you’re following conventional room-based naming structures) and recorded drums for ‘The Ballad of Richmond Town’, the last track to record. He even managed to nail it on the second take.

There’s a few more parts to come back and then the small matter of the guitars and vocals, which are in various stages of completion. I need to stop dawdling and get on with it basically.

We’ve recorded twelve songs. One of which is almost definitely not getting past the guide guitar/vocals stage. The others all sound ace.

So from something old (see the video below) to something new… At our last band practice we were joined by Johnny’s friend Sophie, who came along to take some promo shots of the new line-up. She did an awesome job and the photo below is one of them. I’ll post the rest when I have more time (or you can head over to my facebook page to see the rest).

I took a camera to our Brighton gig and gave it to someone to take photos, but sadly they all came out as blurred as the vision of the person taking them. However, Caroline from Hollywood Assassins took some that were infinitely better. This one I think best captured the gig for me:

My girlfriend took a few photos during soundcheck at my solo gig supporting John Otway. I’d forgotten about them until today. The Poet Hi-Ho was particularly excitable during an otherwise normal, dull soundcheck as his hero (John Otway, not me!) was only feet away from him…
